Text Box: WE SHALL LEAD
10/09/1978 to present...

In September 1978, Silverfields Primary School—initially and inaccurately referred to as Roodekrans Primary—opened its doors to the community. The initial infrastructure consisted of two classroom blocks, an assembly hall, and an administrative office, all constructed amidst a barren landscape. At its inception, the school welcomed 244 learners, supported by a team of eight dedicated staff members, including the principal.

A mere decade later, the transformation has been nothing short of remarkable. This rapid progress is a testament to the unwavering commitment and altruistic contributions of our parent community. Their selfless efforts have accelerated the school's development, achieving milestones that often take much longer to realize in other institutions.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all parents, educators, and learners who have invested their time and energy into the holistic growth of Silverfields Primary School. Their collective endeavours have been pivotal in shaping the institution's success, both academically and extracurricularly.

Our staff's consistent professionalism and dedication have been instrumental in sustaining this success. Their commitment to excellence resonates in every classroom and extracurricular activity, laying a strong foundation for our learners' future.

As Prof. Jooste, a past director of T.E.D., eloquently stated, "May the silver of Silverfields never tarnish."

Children in South Africa are maturing in a transformative era marked by both challenges and opportunities. At    SILVERFIELDS PRIMARY, our dedicated and highly qualified staff, led by Principal Mr. Eddie van Greuning, are committed to addressing these challenges by striving to:

 · Empower each learner to unlock their full potential through individualized support.

· Create an inclusive environment where every learner, irrespective of their background, feels encouraged to engage fully.

· Equip our learners with the leadership skills necessary for both school and national service.

· Harmonize academic, sporting, and cultural activities to foster the holistic development of each learner.

· Engage the entire school community, including learners, teachers, parents, and management, in realizing these objectives.

We advocate for sports not only as a means for physical development but also as a vital tool for character building. Our diverse sports offerings include athletics, netball, soccer, rugby, cricket, hockey, cross country, and tennis, along with introductory programs like mini-soccer, mini-netball, and mini-cricket.

Learners are nurtured to appreciate the arts, enriched by educational outings to various artistic productions. We regularly host visiting theatre companies to enrich our learners' cultural exposure. Annually, the school proudly presents at least one full-scale theatrical production.

Our range of cultural activities extends to chess and choir, among others. With a harmonious blend of tradition and progressive thinking, coupled with ongoing self-assessment, we take pride in what SILVERFIELDS PRIMARY can offer your child. Visitors are always welcome.

Our History

The Genesis (1978)

In the heart of July 1978, Silverfields Primary School—originally christened Roodekrans Primary—burst onto the educational scene. With two vibrant blocks of classrooms, a hall echoing with potential, and a bustling administrative office, the stage was set. Mr. Stalson, our pioneering Principal, laid the cornerstone of what would become an institution of excellence.

 The Officer Era (1979-1992)

As the calendar flipped to August 1979, Mr. Officer ascended to leadership, steering the Silverfields ship through uncharted waters until May 1992. Under his visionary guidance, the barren school grounds blossomed into a sanctuary of learning and growth.

 A Time of Change (1992-1997)

When Mr. Lex Morton took the reins in 1992, South Africa was a nation in flux, and so was education. Embracing this transformative period, Silverfields metamorphosed into a melting pot of cultures, opening its arms wide to welcome learners from Kagiso and beyond.

 The Boyd Leadership (1997-2015)

The dawn of 1997 saw Mrs. Marlene Boyd rise to the esteemed position of Principal. As the winds of Curriculum 2005 swept across the educational landscape, Mrs. Boyd navigated Silverfields through the storm, ensuring we not only survived but thrived.

Adapting to CAPS (2010)

The year 2010 heralded the advent of the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS). Silverfields didn't just adapt; we soared. Our dedicated educators immersed themselves in training, ensuring a flawless transition that set a benchmark for others to follow.

The Legacy of Mrs. Degenaar

Mrs. Degenaar (née Boyd) became an indelible part of Silverfields' tapestry. Her departure was a bittersweet symphony of regret and heartfelt gratitude, as she left behind a legacy rich in accomplishment and community spirit.

The Current Chapter (2015-Present)

The finale of 2015 marked the beginning of a thrilling new act, as Mr Eddie van Greuning took center stage. Armed with a treasure trove of innovative ideas, laser-like focus, and a burning passion for holistic education, the future of Silverfields Primary School is not just promising—it's luminous.
