School Based Support Team (SBST)

The Importance of Comprehensive Support Services

We are privileged to have a School Based Support Team (SBST) here at Silverfields Primary. This dedicated team comprises two social workers, counselling services, bereavement support, occupational therapists, an educational psychologist, pastors, and connections to external resources such as the Department of Health, The Teddy Bear Clinic, SANCA, Cross Connect, Child Welfare, and the South African Police Service (SAPS).

These professionals work collaboratively to provide personalized support and interventions to learners who may require social, emotional, behavioural, or academic assistance. By addressing the holistic needs of our learners, we ensure that every learner receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

A Special Thank You to Our Social Workers and SBST Members

At Silverfields Primary, we are incredibly grateful for the dedicated individuals who form our School-Based Support Team (SBST) and ensure the well-being of our learners. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our social workers, Mesdames Sijora and Mogope, for their unwavering commitment to supporting our learners and families through their expertise, empathy, and compassion.

Additionally, we express our deepest gratitude to the members of the School Management Team (SMT) who oversee the functioning of the SBST: Mesdames Schroder, Snyman, and Mr. Botha (See photo above). Their leadership, guidance, and collaborative efforts play a vital role in ensuring that our learners receive the comprehensive support and interventions they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Your dedication and tireless efforts in providing personalized support to our learners facing social, emotional, behavioural, or academic challenges are deeply appreciated. Thank you for your invaluable contributions to our school community.
